Criterion Capital celebrates International Day of Charity
On this International Day of Charity, Criterion Capital reflects on the vital role that generosity and compassion play in fostering stronger, more resilient communities.
Through The Aziz Foundation, our mission extends beyond philanthropy – we aim to create lasting change by addressing the root causes of inequality and supporting initiatives that uplift those in need.
Since the Foundation was established in 2015, they have committed to making a tangible impact on local communities across Britain. Through their partnerships with food banks such as Sufra London, they have helped provide essential support to families facing food insecurity. But their work extends far beyond basic needs.
In the cultural sector, they have proudly funded interfaith theatre productions at renowned venues like the Young Vic and the Edinburgh International Festival. These initiatives not only bring communities together through the arts but also promote dialogue and understanding across different faiths and cultures. By supporting these creative expressions, they aim to build bridges and foster a deeper sense of unity.
Their commitment to social justice is also evident in the housing and pastoral care projects they’ve funded, which provide crucial support to the homeless and those at risk. Moreover, their sponsorship of public celebrations such as the Open Iftar in Trafalgar Square with the Ramadan Tent Project and Ramadan Lights in London’s West End – marking the first-ever Ramadan lights in Western Europe – has been instrumental in promoting interfaith solidarity and celebrating cultural diversity in public spaces.
“Charity is not just about giving; it’s about creating opportunities, fostering understanding, and building bridges within our communities”, says Rahima Aziz BEM, Trustee of The Aziz Foundation. “Through our wide-ranging initiatives, we are committed to addressing both immediate needs and long-term challenges, ensuring that every member of society has the opportunity to thrive. Whether through grants to local charities, funding of advocacy initiatives, or backing innovative projects that drive systemic change, The Aziz Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the social fabric of Britain.”
The Foundation’s work is driven by a simple yet profound belief: when we support each other, we all grow. On this International Day of Charity, we celebrate the collective impact of our efforts and the enduring power of coming together to support those in need.
