Festive wishes from Criterion Capital!

As 2024 draws to a close, we at Criterion Capital wanted to reflect on an extraordinary year, extending heartfelt gratitude to our community and stakeholders.

Criterion Capital

As multigenerational landlords and long-term investors, we remain steadfast in building lasting relationships and shaping vibrant communities.

This year, we celebrated key milestones, including expanding our portfolio with significant acquisitions in Edinburgh and the City of London, welcoming commercial tenants such as Albert’s Schloss and Dave’s Hot Chicken, and enhancing our residential offerings. We also launched a new website, strengthening our digital outreach and ensuring greater transparency and engagement.

A highlight of the year was Halima Aziz representing Criterion Hospitality on a panel at the Annual Hospitality Conference (AHC), discussing adaptive reuse in hospitality – central to our Zedwell Hotels’ sustainable practices. At the Trocadero, we proudly showcased Chila Kumari Burman MBE’s vibrant works as part of the Heart of London Business Alliance’s (HOLBA) Art After Dark series, and restored our iconic Horses of Helios installation, preserving this cherished landmark for future generations. Additionally, we began revitalising the London Pavilion, securing permission for digital screens that will restore its historic vibrancy and illuminate the West End.

In leadership, Omar Aziz joined HOLBA’s board, reinforcing our commitment to the area’s vitality, while Rahima Aziz BEM, trustee at The Aziz Foundation, inspired audiences at the M-Women’s Leadership Summit with Community Policy Forum, and continues to champion our social justice initiatives, including our scholarships programme (reopening in January!)

Through the launch of our Criterion Connects network, we deepened our community ties with impactful events, including a festive celebration in support of Soho Parish Primary School, featuring pupil performances and special readings by local leaders. These initiatives underscore our dedication to fostering meaningful relationships across diverse communities.

We hope you enjoy this year’s bespoke Criterion illustration created by our very own Saskia Jiggens, beautifully reimagining our Criterion Building adorned with festive lights and snow, capturing the bustling energy of Piccadilly Circus during the holiday season. It’s a wonderful reminder of the West End’s magic.

Looking to 2025, we’re excited to scale Zedwell and launch a bold new concept to mark its 5th anniversary, while celebrating the Aziz Foundation’s 10th anniversary. As we continue growing our portfolio and embracing innovation, we remain committed to elevating communities.

To our community and partners, we wish you joy, peace and success in the year ahead.

Thank you for making 2024 so memorable!
