London – 12th September 2024 – 29-year-old Abdullah Tanoli, the selfless security guard who saved an 11-year-old girl and her mother during a stabbing in Leicester Square last month, has been honoured with a prestigious bravery award and a job offer from Criterion Capital. Abdullah, who courageously intervened to stop the knife attack in August, will now start a new role as Assistant Building Manager, supporting the residential branch of the leading property company.
Abdullah’s heroic actions, which also protected several passers-by, earned him recognition on Tuesday night at the Emerald 100 event, hosted by Criterion Capital’s charitable arm, The Aziz Foundation, in collaboration with Emerald Network. The event, held at SOAS University of London, celebrated rising British Muslim leaders making a positive impact across various fields, with Abdullah’s bravery taking centre stage.
Reflecting on his award and new career, Abdullah expressed his gratitude, saying: “I am deeply honoured by this recognition and excited to start a new chapter with the amazing team at Criterion. I already feel so welcome and I’m eager to contribute to such a dynamic company.”
Rahima Aziz BEM, Criterion Capital, praised Abdullah’s bravery and community spirit: “While Abdullah is highly qualified for the role, it was his courage and commitment to helping others that truly inspired us. At Criterion, we value people who embody these qualities and we’re proud to have him on board.”
Abdullah’s actions, which saw him tackle the attacker until police arrived, have been widely celebrated in the press and he was recently recognised by the High Commissioner of Pakistan. Now, in his new role at Criterion, he will focus on enhancing resident engagement and improving services across multiple properties within Criterion’s extensive portfolio.
Abdullah’s qualifications include a Master’s in Project Management from BPP University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, alongside experience in safety and design. By honouring Abdullah and welcoming him into the team, Criterion Capital reinforces its commitment to building a workforce that embodies courage, resilience, integrity and a dedication to community – qualities that drive the company’s continued growth and have a positive impact on the real estate industry.
