Planning approved for former Royal British Legion Hall in Norbury
Croydon Council has granted planning permission for our exciting project to reposition the former Royal British Legion Hall in Norbury into 20 affordable homes. Thank you to the planning officers for their cooperative approach and the committee members for their support of our plans.
The existing site has been confirmed to be unfit for purpose and we are committed to revitalising this space, ensuring it serves the needs of local residents effectively. We will soon be transforming the hall into a vibrant site featuring much-needed housing and community infrastructure.
Other Key Benefits:
Enhanced Housing Options: We are increasing local housing choices with a mix of 20 new high-quality 1, 2, and 3-bedroom homes, addressing the growing demand for varied housing solutions in the area.
Affordable Living: Our commitment to inclusivity is reflected in the provision of 3 new affordable homes on-site, including 2 social rented units and 1 shared ownership unit, ensuring access to quality housing for all.
Green Belt Relief: By repositioning this brownfield site we are alleviating pressure on Croydon’s Green Belt, supporting sustainable urban growth without encroaching on protected green spaces.
Community Infrastructure: The project will create new permanent jobs and generate additional employment opportunities through the construction process and apprenticeships, fostering local skills development.
Financial Contributions: Through the Community Infrastructure Levy, we are securing essential financial contributions towards the improvement of local services, benefiting the wider community.
Environmental Enhancements: New green planting will enhance local biodiversity, improve air quality and provide a healthier environment for residents and visitors alike.
We are proud that our plans for this former Royal British Legion Hall align with Croydon Council’s vision for sustainable, inclusive and community-focused development.
